Google has activated a new feature by default for Gmail. Now your inbox includes tabs, which separates your inbox based on senders. The default tabs includes “Social” and “Promotions”.
I prefer the classic inbox style, with all of my inbox mail on one screen.
After some digging, I found out how to disable this new feature.
- Log into your gmail inbox
- Click the “gear” settings icon in the top right corner
- Click “Configure inbox”
- Uncheck all the tabs, you can’t uncheck “Primary”, and click “Save”
You can always go back to the tabbed inbox by following these steps and checking the tabs you want to use.
